What do you need to move?
Move - Domestic & small business
When you're thinking about moving electrical equipment in your home or small business, it's important to have a clear understanding of what needs to be moved and who can assist with the process. To make things easier for you, we've put together some useful information and videos showcasing the common types of equipment that are often requested to be moved.
We can move an electricity supply and provide you with a price for how much it may cost. Typically customers need to move their electricity supply when:
- Extending or renovating a property
- Building a conservatory
- Moving it to a more accessible location
Typically our customers need to move their overhead power lines which connect to their home or business when:
- The electricity cable is in the way of building work such as home extensions
- Replacing fascia, cladding or windows
- The electricity pole is in the way and you want it all moved underground
- Removing the overhead cable and bracket fixed to your property purely for aesthetic reasons
Customers often us ask about moving their meter only a short distance.
Only your electricity supplier (the company you pay your electricity bills to) is able to move the electricity meter as it's legally owned by them. If you need to move your electricity board, we can do this for you. However, at the end of any work we do, your electricity supplier will still need to reconnect the electricity meter.
Typically this is needed when your electrician is rewiring your property or you need to move the fuse box to a more accessible place.
Unfortunately, we can't help you with this as only a qualified electrician can advise you on how to carry out this work. Your electricity supplier may need to visit during this work to turn off the electricity.
