Our 'Working with UK Power Networks' document below should be reviewed by existing and potential suppliers or partners to understand the approach we take to business ethics. It also clarifies the standards and behaviours we expect to be adopted by our supply chain. We expect our suppliers to go beyond minimum legal requirements and seek to continually improve and innovate. We will only do business with suppliers who share our values and do business ethically. We will work to assist our supply chain to meet our expectations as far as possible.

Working with us

This Code of Conduct represents an agreement between UK Power Networks and our suppliers to live up to the standards of ethical conduct that our customers rightly expect of us – so that customers can have confidence that the Code of Conduct is being applied and monitored effectively, we will report annually on its implementation – and our suppliers will provide evidence to show how they have lived up to the code.
We have made the decision to keep our code of conduct to high level statements that reflect the direction and requirements of the business. This ensures it is relevant for our entire supply chain and allows the suppliers to engage with us on how its delivered.
Our code of conduct is split across two criteria Mandatory requirements and Focus areas. Our focus areas are a proposed way to drive improvement in UK Power Networks and our supply chain which may become mandatory in the future.

This is supported by our vision to be an employer of choice, a respected and trusted corporate citizen, and to do so in a sustainable, cost-efficient way. Our vision is informed by the world we live in and the constant engagement we have with our stakeholders, which in turn informs and shapes our strategy for our next regulatory period (RIIO-ED2) and beyond. Pre-qualifications for suppliers
Pre-qualification ensures that suppliers of goods, works and services meet our required levels of health, safety, environment, quality, CDM capability, ethical, diversity and inclusiveness, commercial and financial stability standards.
All suppliers working for us must be registered with <a rel="noopener" href="https://www.achilles.com/" target="_blank">Achilles</a> as a minimum standard of pre-qualification. RISQS is accepted in place of <a href="https://www.achilles.com/">Achilles</a> for suppliers working within our Rail businesses. Suppliers undertaking “High Risk” activities on our behalf must comply with the our Pre-qualification and Approval Procedure before commencing any work. If you undertake high risk activities you must also undergo the <a href="https://www.achilles.com/">Achilles</a> Verify audit. All procurement activities represent a degree of risk to us. Risk is categorised into three categories – High, Medium or Low – as shown below All suppliers undertaking High Risk activity must complete our pre-qualification procedure and have a contract in place before any work commences.
High Risk
Includes but is not limited to:
<ul>
<li>Potentially dangerous activities e.g. working at height, on an electrical network, working in confined spaces</li>
<li>Activities working ‘on or near the network’</li>
<li>Working on UK Power Networks’ Assets</li>
<li>Suppliers where a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Environmental risk is identified</li>
<li>Where UK Power Networks accounts for 50% or more a contractor’s turnover</li>
<li>Designers/project managers who are accessing the UK Power Networks electrical sites</li>
<li>Suppliers who install equipment and general contractors</li>
<li>Suppliers who have access to UK Power Networks critical IT infrastructure, systems or information.</li>
</ul>
Medium Risk
<ul>
<li>Any supplier that does not have a Health &amp; Safety Risk within its scope of work but still presents a commercial risk to UK Power Networks.</li>
</ul>
Low Risk
<ul>
<li>Any supplier undertaking activities that pose little or no risk commercially and do not pose any Health &amp; Safety Risk to UK Power Networks.</li>

We are happy to accept electronic submission of invoices to support efficiency of the payment process for suppliers. <li>All documents sent to us must be a PDF or Tiff document type. No other formats are valid.</li>
<li>Each invoice must be on a separate attachment. There can be multiple pages within each invoice and include supporting documents if required but multiple invoices on one attachment will not work.</li>
<li>More than one attachment per email is acceptable.</li>
<li>Only invoices are to be attached. Any statements or follow-ups must be sent on a separate email.</li>
<li>To avoid duplication no paper copies of invoices should be sent.</li>

By making this application you understand and agree to the Terms and Conditions that:

<li>You must install and operate the electricity storage and generation units exactly as described in the application form and in accordance with the EREC G98, EREC G100 and EREC G5/4-1;</li>
<li>If UK Power Networks has reason to believe that the electricity storage and generation units have been installed or are being operated otherwise than exactly as described in the application form and in accordance with the EREC G98, EREC G100 and EREC G5/4-1 it may de-energise the connection and require that witness tests are undertaken in its presence and/or that the customer undertakes such remedial works as it shall deem appropriate; and</li>
<li>The customer shall bear its own and UK Power Networks’ costs associated with any witness tests and / or remedial works that UK Power Networks may require to be carried out if it has reason to believe that the electricity storage and generation units have been installed, or are being operated, otherwise than exactly as described in the application form and in accordance with the EREC G98, EREC G100 and EREC G5/4-1.</li>

Please be aware that you are required to provide the commissioning sheets on the day after the planned commissioning date. The contact details of the relevant team will be included in the confirmation email you will receive within 10 working days after submitting the application.
Note: Your planned commissioning date must be at least 10 working days from the date of application, but not more than 3 months in advance as our connection offers are only valid for 3 months.
