Distributed Energy Resources / Generation (DER)
At our DER surgeries we offer customers the opportunity to chat to us and assess if their project is viable to connect to our electricity network before completing an application. We understand how important it is for customers to receive support before applying, so we have decided to run these ad-hoc surgeries. These are in additional to our regular monthly surgeries and aim to provide customers with tailored assistance related to their specific project.
What happens at a DER surgery?
- We talk to customers and assess the compatibility of their project with our network. Our team will go through all the options available, before moving forward with the application process.
- We've allocated 45 minutes to each session which can be hosted at one of our offices, by phone, or through a digital meeting.
- It's important to note that this service is specifically for customers planning new projects. Any existing and ongoing projects should be discussed with your dedicated designer or coordinator.
How to book a session

Email us with the details of your project
To book a slot simply send us an email at DG.surgeries@ukpowernetworks.co.uk with the following information:
- Your contact details
- Project name
- Project address
- Site location plan showing extent of site and proposed point of connection and or point of supply
- Capacity range being considered or ideally a fixed capacity in MVA
- Technologies/mix of technologies being proposed
- Type of connection required – tee/loop/firm/flexible (ANM)
- Relevant electrical drawings including single line drawing
- Proposed connection/energisation date
