Preparing site for a commercial connection

Connect a project

If you're considering applying for a new electricity connection, it's important to think about any additional work that may be required.

You may need to:

  • Disconnect an existing electricity supply

If you're developing land that already has an existing electricity supply, it's possible that you'll need to arrange for a disconnection. For more information on what's involved, visit dedicated disconnections pages.

  • Moving an existing supply, cable, overhead line or substation

To determine if there is any existing equipment on your land, you can either visit our Open Data Portal or request cable plans. If we have any equipment on your development that needs to be moved, you can apply to have it relocated. Before completing any work, please read our safety guidance.

  • Arranging for a temporary electricity connection

If your project requires a temporary electricity supply to power handheld tools, site cabins, or tower cranes, you can apply online to have this installed.

Ready to go ahead?

If you're all set and ready to proceed with the work, the next step is to use our Connections Application Portal to complete an application.
