Electric Vehicles, solar, storage and heat pumps

As the UK takes steps towards a more sustainable future, we're ready for the growing interest in customers wanting to install low carbon technologies (LCT) either as part of a new project, such as a housing development, or adding them to existing sites, such as converting fuelling stations to EV charging hubs. LCT options can include low carbon heating systems, electric car chargers, solar panels and storage.

As a Distribution Network Operator (DNO), our primary role is to maintain the electricity network. This means that we're not directly involved in installing new technologies, this is taken care of by your chosen installer. However, we ensure that there is enough power available for you to access our electricity network by installing new electricity supplies or upgrading existing supplies if it's required.

To help you with this process, we've created useful guides aimed at giving you all the information you need to plan your work.

Did you know you can use an Independent Connection Provider (ICP) for various elements of the work involved in getting an electricity connection or making changes to an existing electricity connection.

Ready to go ahead?

If you're all set and ready to proceed with the work, the next step is to use our Connections Application Portal to complete an application.
