What are Watts (W), Kilowatts (kW) and Kilovolt Amps (kVA)?
Watts (W), Kilowatts (kW) and Kilovolt Amps (kVA) are all units of electric power. Electricians tend to work in Watts and kW and we use kVA because kVA is used when talking about sizing, equipment for power generation and distribution.
How much power do you need?
If you’re applying for a new electrical connection or asking for more power then we’ll need to know how much power you need. If you are unsure, we recommend that you speak to a qualified electrician who will be able to assess all your equipment and tell you what you need. If you don't tell us how much you need we would assume 15kVA but it’s important you get this right.
