When is someone going to fill in the hole that has been left by your employees?

Timescales

We always aim to refill any holes which we have dug as quickly as we can. This is often done by a different team to those who carried out the repair or maintenance work. If the work is being carried out on public land, this will have to be completed before the permit expires.

Sometimes after we've completed our work to the electricity equipment, we may leave the hole open for a few days. This is to make sure the fault is fixed and doesn't reoccur. However, our specialist teams will always aim to refill the holes and put everything back to normal as soon as possible.

You can check who is working in your area and for how long by visiting the Causeway one.network website and simply enter the nearest postcode, road name or use your mobile device's location. Alternatively, you can contact us and we’ll look into this for you.

What's involved?

1 - Planning

For us to repair an issue with the electricity supply, we have to dig a hole to access our electricity equipment. Once we've finished repairing the electrical issue we'll hand the work over to our specialist team who will plan for the hole to be refilled and resurfaced.

2 - Refilling the hole

The team will begin by removing the material which we dug out. Where possible we'll refill the hole using recycled materials to reduce our carbon footprint.

3 - Resurfacing

The next step will be to resurface the hole. The team will always endeavour to match the surrounding surface. Sometimes this may not be possible as the weather and general wear and tear can mean the original surface is a different shade to the new one.

If we dug on a grassed area, we'll use top soil and grass seeds on the surface rather than turf.

3 - Clearing the site

Once the hole has been filled and the surface has cured, our specialist team will clear the site, collect the barriers and tidy the area. This may need more than one visit over multiple days.
