Priority Services Register (PSR) extra support during a power cut

UK Power Networks delivers electricity in your local area. If you lose power, we’re the network operator you can contact to get your lights back on. We’re here to help you 24/7, every day of the year come rain or shine.

We are contacting you as we believe someone in your household is eligible for free priority support in the event of a power cut. For more information on how we got your mobile number, please visit our PSR customer contact webpage.

What is the Priority Services Register?

We know power cuts don’t happen often, but if they do you and your family could get extra support including:

  • 24/7 priority when calling us to report a power cut
  • Regular updates by text or voice message to you and anyone else you’d like us to keep up to date
  • Home visits, hot food and temporary power supply if we are unable to reconnect you quickly
  • Password scheme so you can tell if our staff are genuine if they visit you.

Who is eligible for this support?

Let us know if any of the following also apply to you or someone in your household so we can make sure we give you the right support:

  • You’re over 65
  • You have a disability or experience physical or mental health challenges
  • You rely on electricity for medical equipment or store medicine
  • You live with children under 5
  • English isn't your first language.

You can update your details using our online form: PSR Update Form.

More information about the Priority Services Register can be found on our webpage: About the Priority Services Register.

What to do if this service is not for you

Within 30 days of receiving the SMS text message we will automatically add you to our Priority Service Register, providing you with extra support if you ever have a power cut.  However, if you feel this service is not for you, you can let us know at any time.

If you would like to opt out of this service, text UKPN OPT OUT to 60650. There will be no charge for this text message.

What happens next?

Once you're on the register, you'll receive a welcome pack with information about the support available to you.
We also work with your water and energy providers to ensure you get support across all your utilities. 30 days after you’ve received your welcome pack, we will also share your information with your utility suppliers in case there's ever a disruption to your energy or water supply.
